The bomb disposal team were rushed to the Queen’s Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland, following reports of a “suspicious item”.

Neither the Queen nor family members were at the residence at the time, and no one was harmed in the incident.

Scottish police were called to the palace grounds on Tuesday evening and a bomb disposal team examined the item that was made to look like a bomb but found “not to be a viable device”, The Independent reports.

Police have now arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with the incident. The man will appear at the Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The Queen often stays at Holyroodhouse Palace during the summer when she attends several Scottish events.

The monarch and Prince Philip, who was recently discharged from hospital after a 28-day stay, have been living at Windsor Castle since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
