Escape to Greece at Bondi’s newest seaside eatery

Ikaria is the Sydney dining destination set to delight locals with mouthwatering Greek fare.

Led by husband-and-wife duo Joaquin Saez and Emily Abay, Ikaria celebrates the culture and community of the tiny Greek island it’s named after.

“This area has such a fantastic sense of community, and we wanted to create a bar where people can celebrate life and enjoy delicious food and cocktails, with an ocean view of our beloved Bondi,” says Saez, whose hospo credits include Albertos Lounge, Cho Cho San and La Palma Cocktail Lounge.

“Ikaria’s philosophy mirrors the Greek Islands’ approach of adding life to our years, instead of trying to add years to our lives.”

Of course, the food is the centrepiece here, with head chef Robert Young devising shared dishes such as saganaki, octopus with Greek sausage and calamari with fermented chilli.

Led by Abay, an acclaimed photographer, the fitout of the restaurant conjures up summers on the white-washed terrace’s of Greek tavernas. Bringing together Mediterranean and North African styling inspirations, Ikaria hopes to transport Aussies to a unique Mediterranean atmosphere.

Ikaria is open now and situated at 70 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach.
