Now, donât take this as any indication that weâre ready for summer to end, but thereâs nothing like the northern hemisphereâs February and March fashion weeks to inspire a little bit of layering FOMO in us all.
Street style might be basically non-existent this year, with designers and fashion houses opting for lockdown-friendly digital presentations in lieu of live runway shows in packed out venues. But the collections on display are as lust-worthy as ever, featuring all the froth and frills that keep fashion-lovers coming back for more, yet underpinned by our pandemic-driven re-prioritising of comfort and wearability.
As London Fashion Week wraps up and our sights turn to Milan, STYLEâs editors share their favourite Fashion Month moments so farâ¦
There is so much I love about this leather jacket by Simone Rocha â the cropped length, the puff sleeves, the feminine frill detail on the shoulder. Being of shorter stature and therefore not built for the oversized outerwear trend of seasons past, it pains me how perfectly its proportions would work on me. Alas I am currently more of that Simone Rocha x H&M level of wealth, so will just have to keep dreaming! â Phoebe Watt, associate editor
Emilia Wickstead has created some stunning pieces for her Autumn Winter 2021 collection but it’s the coats that have to be my favourites, like the Elroy trench with its gorgeous merino check pattern and elegant tailoring. â Kathryn Chung, concierge editor
The excessive, exuberant use of pink for all is an approach I can fully get on board with, so I love Prabal Gurung’s F21 offering. If the world’s major cities are still in lockdown, or at least socially distancing, when the collection arrives it’s a statement when worn that can hardly be missed from afar, and if not, it’s certainly appropriate for a suitably joyous occasion. There’s no working from home outfits here! â Megan Bedford, beauty editor
If I were a Hollywood star making my selections for awards season, Iâd be setting aside this gown from NYC brand Markarian. Itâs hard to go past a bit of Swarovski crystal trim. â Ashley Wallace, culture editor
When it comes to style, Victoria Beckham can do no wrong in my eyes, but the silver glitter boots from her FW21 presentation are the rightest thing Iâve seen for a hot minute â since Saint Laurentâs not-dissimilar holographic, crystal-encrusted boot of 2017 even. You could be forgiven for thinking they arenât the most versatile pair of boots out there, but VB shows us how by styling them with everything from classic camel coats and bare legs to floaty floral dresses to just a peep showing under smart tailored trousers. â Josie Steenhart, sub-editor
