The LUMA Southern Light exhibition is set to take over Queenstown this Queen’s Birthday weekend.

Returning to the city for its seventh year, this year’s LUMA promises to be its biggest yet, bringing together more than 500 contributers for a magical, light-filled weekend.

Hosted at the Queenstown Gardens over four days, visitors will be able to wander through a unique sensory journey of glowing sculptures and light-up installations made by talented up-and-coming and established artists.

The event will also feature performances by visual artists, music and film, along with an Emerging Artist and Schools programme to support the next generation of creatives.

Artist Angus Muir, a long-time LUMA exhibitor says the garden location makes it a perfect destination for putting on the special event.

“Queenstown Gardens themselves are just so amazing because there’s no ambient light so everything is just so colourful. What makes LUMA so special for us is coming down and working with such amazing people, an amazing landscape and such an amazing audience,” he says.
